The United States condemns the ongoing violence in Afghanistan, calls for an immediate end to the Taliban violence, a peaceful political solution to the violence and is detrimental to the people.
The US embassy in Afghanistan has issued a statement on behalf of all foreign missions in Afghanistan stating that the Taliban’s violent actions contradict their claim to support a peaceful solution.
The US embassy said the Taliban’s violent actions were also against the Doha peace process, with credible reports of women’s rights being violated in Taliban-held areas, and the closure of media organizations in Taliban-held areas.
The United States has said that progress in peace in Afghanistan can only be sustained by the parties working together, the Taliban and all parties must immediately stop the violence and all parties, including the Taliban, must agree on a permanent, comprehensive ceasefire.
The US embassy added that the Taliban and all parties should be fully engaged in peace talks and the parties should agree to a comprehensive political settlement, ensuring that the Taliban and all parties prevent Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven for terrorists.
The United States has demanded that the Taliban lay down its arms on Eid al-Adha and show its commitment to the peace process.
