Bahawalpur: An accused was arrested for stealing hockey and ball from the statue of Olympian Samiullah Khan installed in Bahawalpur city of Punjab province.
According to details, the accused who stole a hockey stick and a ball from the statue of Olympian Samiullah Khan in Bahawalpur was arrested within 48 hours using modern technology.
Police said that the accused Noman Kahror is a resident of Paka, currently living in Bahawalpur. He had started the investigation with CCTV cameras and other information.
According to police, the accused confessed to the crime and expressed shame over what he had done.
Police further said that Samiullah Khan is a hero of Pakistan and it is our duty to protect government property and monuments.
It may be recalled that the statue of Olympian Samiullah Khan was installed in a square of his hometown a few days back after which a hockey stick and a ball of the statue were stolen a few days later.
The local administration had installed another hockey stick and ball along with the statue, but the search for the accused was still on.
