Puber pen, webdesk: Delhi’s Jama Masjid bans entry of women without male guardians. In this regard, large notices have been hung at the three gates of this historic mosque on Thursday. Where it is written, no single woman can enter this mosque.”
Jami Masjid Public Relations Officer Sabiullah Khan told news agency ANI, “Women are not barred from entering. When women come alone, inappropriate acts are done, they shoot Tik Tok videos and dance. A ban was issued to stop it. No restrictions on families/married couples. A meeting point for boys and girls cannot be allowed in this mosque.”
According to the notice, a group of women cannot enter the mosque together. Women will no longer be allowed inside the Jama Masjid without a man. It has been reported that this decision has been taken by the authorities to prevent indecent acts with women inside the mosque.
On the other hand, Delhi Commission for Women intervened in the matter. It is learned that the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Swati Maliwal, has already given a notice to the Imam of the Jama Masjid.
In a tweet, he wrote, “The decision to ban women from entering Jama Masjid in Delhi is not acceptable at all. Just as a man has the right to pray to Allah, women also have the right to worship. No one can prevent women from praying to God like this.” Jama Masjid gate notices written in Hindi mean that women are allowed to enter only if they are accompanied by a father, brother, husband or a male guardian.
