On 31st August, Kajalian festival was celebrated in the entire district including the city. During this, a procession of Kajaliyan was taken out. Kajaliya festival was also celebrated as per tradition in Kosmi Gram Panchayat adjacent to the city. Women took out the Kajaliya procession holding Bhujriyas sown in their homes.
This procession reached a designated place in the village. Here the women circumambulated Bhujriya with rituals. After this, Bhujriya was immersed in the holy water of the village. According to beliefs, women sow Kajaliya in their homes as a symbol of happiness, prosperity and wealth. It is immersed with special worship on the second day of Rakshabandhan.
Women told that Kajaliya festival is a festival symbolizing our tradition and new crop. Which introduces the younger generation to its tradition. Women sow it in homes. Water is offered to it everyday. On the second day of Rakshabandhan, kajaliyas sown in homes are immersed with full rituals. Congratulations and best wishes are given to each other by giving kajaliyas.
