A 7-year-old minor boy has been accused of raping a 5-year-old girl in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh. Both the accused and the victim are neighbours. Police have registered an FIR under rape section and POCSO Act. Along with the victim, the accused child has also been sent to the hospital for medical examination. The incident has been reported on Tuesday (19 September 2023). The matter is under investigation.
According to media reports, the incident took place in Akbarpur police station area of Kanpur Dehat district. A woman from a village here has filed a complaint of rape of her 5-year-old daughter on Tuesday. In the complaint, the woman has said that on the day of the incident her daughter had gone out of the house to play. During this time, the 7 year old boy took her with him to a deserted place. Here he raped the girl. When the girl reached home crying, her family asked the reason. The girl was soaked in blood.
Efforts were made to resolve this matter at the village level itself. The victim’s mother alleges that she had also lodged a complaint at the accused child’s house. But this did not make any difference to the family of the accused child and they started quarreling with the victim’s mother. Villagers say that the accused child lived with boys older than him. On the complaint of the victim’s family, the police registered a case under section 376 of rape and POCSO Act. Medical report is awaited. Police station in-charge Satish Singh says that legal advice is being taken regarding this case. The reason for this he said was that the accused was 7 years old. According to the station in-charge, extra vigilance is being taken in the investigation of the case.
