Bilaspur/Shimla, Aug 31 (PTI) A catechu factory in Deoth area of ​​Bilaspur district was closed after three of its storage tanks burst and two water supply drains got contaminated. Officials gave this information on Thursday.

Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Kacholi told that the water of Ghambrola ‘Khad’ has become contaminated and the color of the water of the stream has turned red due to chemicals. He also shared a video of red water flowing in the drain.

The officials of the water schemes built on the banks of Ghambrola Khad initially denied contamination of the water. Officials said it was later learned that three plastic tanks of 1,000-litre capacity each had burst at the catechu-making factory in Bhajun village.

Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq said that the factory has been closed and officials have been asked to take appropriate action.
