Berlin. A man stabbed and injured several people on a train in northern Germany on Wednesday. German news agency DPA reported that two of the victims died. The police have taken the attacker into custody. Germany’s federal police force said a man wielding a knife attacked several passengers on a regional train from Kiel to Hamburg shortly before it arrived at Brockstedt station.
The police agency said that preliminary investigation has revealed that seven people were injured. DPA later quoted Schleswig-Holstein state interior minister Sabine Sutterlin-Wach as saying that two people were killed and five others were wounded in the attack. The attack happened at 3:00 pm local time. The news agency said the train station in Brockstad was closed for several hours.

Police did not provide dpa with any information on the identity of the suspect, saying their possible motives were being investigated. The police agencies concerned could not be immediately contacted on Wednesday. (agency)
