Chandigarh- The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is making continuous efforts to create a green and healthy environment in Punjab. Giving this information, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister of Punjab. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the state government has planted 19 lakh 44 thousand saplings in the villages of the state.
Dhaliwal said that 19 lakh 44 thousand saplings have been planted so far with the support of the Forest Department under Magnarega scheme. He said that under this campaign, where fruit and flowering plants have been planted, 1 lakh 2 thousand Moringa medicinal plants have also been planted. He said that a total of 170 nurseries were prepared under the Magnarega scheme and in coordination with the Forest Department to make this campaign a success and meet the demand for plants.
The Cabinet Minister said that to make the state greener, emphasis is also being laid on the construction of mini forests based on Miyawaki technology. He said that under this initiative, where the people of the villages will get employment, this project will also help in keeping the environment of Punjab clean and tidy.
S. Dhaliwal further said that the Magnarega scheme is proving to be a boon for the rural workers of Punjab. He said that a total of Rs 1065 crore has been spent under Magnarega scheme during this financial year. He said that during the current financial year 2022-2023, a total of 7 lakh 85 thousand families were given employment and 2 crore, 65 lakh human days were created. He said that during this financial year, 83 thousand 312 new job cards have been created under Magnarega scheme so that the benefits of this scheme can be extended to maximum number of rural families.
