Lethbridge – 4 charged with stolen firearms, vehicles after 3-hour police standoff in Lethbridge IG News

Lethbridge Police have charged three men and a woman with property offenses following an investigation.

The investigation led police to a home at 4500 Black at 28 Avenue South in Lethbridge. There, officers arrested five people and a 36-year-old man who participated in a three-hour standoff with police.

The youth surrendered after being sent to the Critical Incident Team.

Police searched the home and a northbound storage facility and found “seven firearms and other property – previously stolen during a break and enter at Magrath’s – as well as additional property stolen from other break-ins, According to a news release from Lethbridge Police.

The police have also recovered 19 grams of fentanyl and two stolen vehicles have also been recovered.

The police investigation into the crimes is ongoing. While six were arrested, only four were charged. Three of the four accused are in police custody, while police raids are on in search of the fourth accused.

Donovan James Holmberg, 36, of Lethbridge took part in the standoff. He is accused of:

  • break and enter to steal firearms
  • Stolen property worth more than five thousand seized
  • Three counts of failure to comply with release orders/conditions
  • Seven counts of negligent use/storage of firearms, unauthorized possession of firearms, knowingly possessing firearms and possession of firearms/weapons obtained by crime

Cameron Leo Rasmussen, 27, of Coleman, is charged with:

  • break and enter to steal firearms
  • possession of stolen property
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • possession of a controlled substance
  • fail to follow through on an undertaking
  • Three counts of failure to comply with release orders/conditions
  • Seven counts of negligent use/storage of firearms, unauthorized possession of firearms, knowingly possessing firearms and possession of firearms/weapons obtained by crime

Taylor Shay Knapp-Johnson, 23, of Lethbridge, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jeremy Mackenzie Toth, 26, of Lethbridge, who is accused of:

  • break and enter to steal firearms
  • Failed to comply with release orders/conditions
  • Three counts of failure to comply with the conditions of an undertaking
  • Seven counts of negligent use/storage of firearms, unauthorized possession of firearms, knowingly possessing firearms and possession of firearms/weapons obtained by crime

Holmberg, Rasmussen and Knapp-Johnson are in police custody and will remain so until their court dates in November and January, respectively.

Police continue to search for Toth and ask anyone who sees him or has any information on his whereabouts to contact Lethbridge police.
