Jammu, January 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today paid tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.
Speaking at an event organized by Gandhi Global Family J&K, the Lt Governor said, Bapu’s life and teachings will continue to guide the interdependent world in the 21st century. The eternal values he taught us will sustain human civilization for decades and centuries to come.
The ideals that Bapu espoused – truth and non-violence, protection of human dignity, equality, social justice, respect for all religions, welfare of the downtrodden, rights of women and youth, powerful means for peaceful coexistence And the guiding light. Existence, said the Lt. Governor.
The Lt Governor appreciated the efforts of Gandhi Global Family, J&K for promoting Gandhian values among the younger generation and asked voluntary organizations to join hands in eradicating social evils.
The Lt Governor said that the ideals and timeless teachings of Pujya Bapu have influenced world leaders to establish a society based on social harmony, synchronous co-existence and economic prosperity.
Women are leading as a role model and contributing to economic development. The Lt Governor said that it is our collective responsibility to ensure that women get education, equal opportunities and financial and other support to grow and prosper.
He said that the need of the hour is the vision of the entire society to fulfill the resolve of Amrit Kaal Khand to make Jammu and Kashmir fear-free, corruption-free and drug-free.
The Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. also talked about the deep bond shared by. Madan Mohan Malviya. He highlighted the measures taken by the government to spread Bapu’s message for social change and accelerated development.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor honored the citizens and organizations for their valuable contribution towards the service of the society. Oath was administered to build the India of Bapu’s dreams. Two minutes silence was also observed and hymns were sung to spread the values and great message of Mahatma Gandhi.
