Chicago –

Two men, who wished to remain anonymous, have claimed a US$1.337 billion mega million jackpot after a single ticket was sold in a Chicago suburb in late July, lottery officials said on Wednesday.

The Illinois Lottery said that the prize for the July 29 drawing, which was the nation’s third largest lottery prize, was claimed by two individuals who agreed to split the prize if they won. Camelot Illinois spokeswoman Emilia Mazur, the Illinois Lottery’s personal manager, said the two, who led the majority of winners choosing to remain anonymous, had the option of opting for a one-time payment until September 27. ,

The Illinois Lottery said it was unable to share any information about the winners, except that they must be “over the moon” with Mega Millions winnings. Illinois is one of at least 16 states where winners can remain anonymous.

Lottery officials said the two men have spent the past few weeks working with professional legal and financial advisors to support the claims process – something experts recommend lottery winners.

“These winners are now in a position to decide what to do with their new fortunes,” said Harold Mays, director of the Illinois Lottery.

According to MegaMillions.com, a jackpot winning ticket was purchased at the Speedway gas station and convenience store in Des Plaines.

The winning numbers were: 13-36-45-57-67, Mega Ball: 14.

The jackpot became so big because no one had matched the six selected numbers of the game since April 15. This is 29 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. Because no one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since the July 29 drawing, the jackpot is now an estimated $301 million.
