A decision to buy lottery tickets has paid off for a Metro Vancouver couple who won an additional $500,000 prize in the April 15 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Jeffrey Scott, of Langley, told the BC Lottery Corporation he was relaxing at home when he “instantly froze” when he learned he and his wife had won the prize.
Scott bought the ticket with his wife, Mari Volkart, and checked it in using the BCLC app.
“[They]didn’t believe us at first,” Scott recalled of the moment he first shared the good news with the family.
While they haven’t yet decided how they’ll spend the winnings, the couple enjoys doing chores around the house, especially in the yard.
“It certainly would make our lives easier,” Volkart said.
The pair purchased the winning ticket at On the Run in Aldergrove at Fraser Highway and 254th Street.
Extra is an add-on option available with Daily Grand, Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max and BC/49.
Matching all four additional numbers awards a top prize of $500,000. According to the BCLC, the odds of winning that amount are approximately one in 3,764,376.
