The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to provide relief to the people of the country amid rising inflation. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Modi government will provide free LPG connections to 75 lakh people in the next three years. This LPG will be given to women under Ujjwala scheme.
The Center in the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (September 13, 2023) approved the proposal to release Rs 1,650 crore to state-owned petroleum companies for new free connections. This meeting was called under the chairmanship of PM Modi. After the new free connections, the number of Ujjwala beneficiaries in the country will increase from 9.60 crore to 10.35 crore.
Anurag Thakur said that under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi, there was a huge reduction in the prices of LPG gas on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and Onam. Due to this, the price of LPG cylinder decreased by Rs 200 from Rs 1100 to Rs 900. This will benefit the common people along with the Ujjwala scheme.
He said that the success of Ujjwala scheme has been appreciated by many international agencies and the World Health Organization (WHO). He said that this scheme has brought a lot of changes in the lives of women and their health has improved. Before this, most women were dependent on wood and coal. The environment was also polluted due to this.
