Nagpur. The Additional District and Sessions Court has acquitted the brother-in-law and his accomplice of the deceased in the murder case registered at Bajajnagar police station. Ramanuj Chitrasen Patel and Shyamlal alias Bhola Patel, residents of Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), were accused of killing Harish Raghunath Patel (35), resident of Kachipura, Ramdaspeth. Ramanuja seems to be Harish’s brother-in-law.

Harish had given 13 lakh rupees to brother-in-law for business, but instead of doing business, Ramanuja spent the entire amount in speculation and gambling. Harish was pressurizing him to return his money. Because of this there was a dispute between both of them. On the night of 24 January 2020, Harish was going home after closing his shop. Late night Ramanuja and Bhola blocked his way. He was killed by hitting him with sattur and stone. Harish’s dead body was seen near the house the next morning.

The police arrested both the accused after registering a case on the complaint of Harish’s father Raghunath. Weapons and clothes were also seized from them. The prosecution could not put the case firmly in the court, while the defense lawyers Ramesh Rawlani and Atul Rawlani filed a discrepancy in the statements of the witnesses before the court. Giving the benefit of doubt, the court acquitted both the accused.
