Murder of ‘Amazon’ manager: Relative said – Harpreet had an argument with some bike riders before the incident IG News

New Delhi, Aug 30 (PTI) A man working as a senior manager in e-commerce company ‘Amazon’ was shot dead in Delhi’s Bhajanpura area. A relative of the deceased said that before the murder, the manager had an altercation with some people riding a bike on the road. Meanwhile, some people who came from behind shot him in the head.

Harpreet Gill (36) and his maternal uncle Govind Singh, 32, were shot at around 11.30 pm in Subhash Vihar area, police said. Both Gill and Singh had left the house riding a bike. Gill, who was rushed to the hospital after the incident, was declared brought dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Joy Tirkey said both Gill and Singh were traveling on a motorcycle when the assailants on a scooter and a motorcycle came and opened fire after stopping them.

Police said footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area were being scanned to identify the assailants, adding that the exact reason behind the firing was not immediately known.

Harpreet’s uncle Bobby Singh Gill said Tuesday was a holiday for Harpreet and he had gone for a bike ride with his maternal uncle when another two-wheeler hit them.

Bobby said, ‘Harpreet was at home on Tuesday because he had a holiday. He used to go for a walk after coming from office. At around quarter to 11, he told his mother that he was going for a walk.

Bobby said, ‘He was with Govind on the motorcycle. We heard that a two-wheeler hit his bike and the assailants ran away abusing him.

He said that the two followed them on a road and during this they had a fight.

Bobby said, “When Harpreet and Govind were confronting them, two men with their faces covered came from behind and opened fire, which hit Harpreet and Govind.”

He told that Harpreet had recently got promoted and was about to go to Bangalore.

He was unmarried, while his younger brother is married and has a child, he added.

Amanpal Singh, the cousin of the deceased, said that Harpreet was supposed to get an award from the company for her performance.

Amanpal said, ‘On Wednesday morning I got a call that someone had killed Harpreet… He had no enmity with anyone and was working for the company for the last 10 to 12 years.’

Gym instructor Amanpal said that Harpreet was the backbone of the family and was bearing all the expenses. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Joy Tirkey said the bullet entered Gill’s head from the right side behind his ear and crossed to the other side.

Gill’s maternal uncle Singh, who also lives in Bhajanpura and has an eatery there, was also shot in the head but survived, the officer said.

Tirkey said that the condition of Govind, who is undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, is stable.

Govind’s wife said she had no information about who shot her husband.

The woman, who was present outside GTB Hospital’s mortuary along with other family members, said, ‘My husband and Harpreet have no enmity with anyone. It seems to be a case of road rage.

Police said a case of murder has been registered and six teams have been formed to probe the matter.
