The Women’s Reservation Bill was introduced in the special session going on in the new building of the Parliament House. Lok Sabha has passed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023’. Voting was conducted for this. While 454 votes were cast in favor of the bill, only 2 MPs voted against the bill.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present in the House during voting. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the government will not keep this bill trapped in technical matters. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that in all 3 categories, i.e. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and General – women will get 33% reservation. He said that the work of determining reservation of seats will be done in a transparent manner. He asked Rahul Gandhi that if Wayanad comes under the ambit of women’s reservation, what will you do, you will say that we are doing politics.
Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi is an MP from Wayanad, Kerala. Similarly, he also named Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, from where AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is the MP. He said that for this, a Delimitation Commission is necessary, in which a quasi-judicial authority will go to every state, study and do the delimitation in a transparent manner. He said that the electoral process of our country requires the formation of a Delimitation Commission.
