Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a campaign was launched between the BJP and the Congress to expose each other under the guise of ‘white’ and ‘black’ papers. The BJP-led NDA government took heavy aim at the decade-long UPA rule in its white paper. Earlier, however, the Congress party published a ‘black’ book on the ten years of the Modi government’s tenure. Former Union Home and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who is a current Congress MP and member of the CWC, described the BJP’s ‘white paper’ as a ‘white paper of lies’. He also reminded of ‘India Shining’. In 2004, the NDA’s ‘India Shining’ campaign was a huge failure. The UPA government was formed at the centre. According to the Congress party, this white fake letter is just the beginning. In the next sixty days, the NDA government will be exposed almost every day.
white paper vs. black paper
Ahead of the NDA government’s white paper, the Congress party released a black paper. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge described the 10 years of the Modi government as a “period of injustice” in the black book. Kharge said the Modi government’s policy was to sell and loot power supplies. He also highlighted the issue of unemployment, condition of farmers, vacancies of OBC, SC, ST in recruitment to government posts. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Lok Sabha about the 10-year tenure of the UPA government that national security was compromised during the UPA government. The UPA government was involved in the mismanagement of the defense sector as evidenced by the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland scam. Earlier, PM Modi also targeted the tenure of the UPA government in Parliament.
‘Bleaching of sins and shortcomings’
Congress leader P. Chidambaram described the NDA government’s white paper as malicious. “It’s an unfair criticism,” he said. This is a white fake letter. This is a political exercise designed to smear the previous government and cover up the broken promises, colossal failures and betrayal of the poor by the current government. The document released on February 8 is not a white paper. This is a document that aims to wash away the many sins and failings of the NDA government over the past 10 years. The appropriate response to this so-called White Paper is a critical document entitled ’10 Years of Injustice, 2014-2024′. This document says that the Modi government has been making promises without thinking. Later, even the government itself mocked it, calling it an election slogan.
