Budapest. Neeraj Chopra World Athletics Championship: Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra created history. He has won the gold medal in the World Athletics Championship 2023. Neeraj definitely fouled the first throw, but in the very second throw he won the gold by throwing the javelin 88.17 meters away. No athlete could throw the javelin further than this in the entire match.

This championship took place in Budapest, Hungary. The final match of the Men’s Javelin Throw event was played on Sunday (27 August). Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan stood second in this championship. His best throw was the one he achieved in the third throw.

India got its first gold in track and field
This is the first gold for India in the track and field category of the World Athletics Championship. Neeraj has become the first Indian to win gold in this category. Earlier, Anju Bobby George had won the bronze medal in long jump in 2003. Whereas Neeraj won the silver medal in the 2022 championship.
Neeraj has also qualified for Paris Olympics 2024. The Paris Olympics will be played from 26 July to 11 August. Apart from Neeraj, India’s DP Manu and Kishore Jena also competed for the medal in the final of Javelin Throw. But Kishore remained at fifth position and Manu remained at sixth position.

Neeraj Chopra equaled Abhinav Bindra
The last World Championship 2022 was held in America, in which Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal and this time he was among the contenders for gold here. This time he won gold with a strong performance. With this, Neeraj has equaled the historical record of Indian veteran shooter Abhinav Bindra, who won gold in both the Olympics and World Athletics Championship.
Abhinav had won gold medals in individual events in both Olympic and World Championship tournaments and is the first Indian to do so. Bindra became the first Indian to win a gold medal in an individual event at the 2008 Olympics. He also won gold in the 10 meter air rifle event of the 2006 World Championship.
