Police in St. John’s, NB, have arrested a sixth person in connection with the murder of 39-year-old Justin David Breu.
On Friday, the St. John’s police force said officers arrested 28-year-old Ivan Luis Tobias after executing a search warrant at a residence in the city’s north end that morning.
Wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with the death of Tobias Breu. He was to appear in court on Friday.

The latest arrest comes seven months after Breu was killed.
Officers responding to a stabbing at a residence on Charles Street in St. John’s on Aug. 17, 2022, shortly before 4 p.m. Police said three masked men dressed in dark clothing forced their way inside the apartment , where Breu was stabbed. After this, the accused fled towards Garden Street on foot.
Five other suspects were previously arrested and charged with first-degree murder:
- Sarah Jean Belziel, 36, who turned herself in after a warrant was issued for her arrest on February 23;
- Travis Earl Boudreau, 32, arrested Jan. 26;
- Dustin Trey Walker-Hammond, 24, arrested Jan. 25;
- Donald Robert Walker, 50, was arrested on January 25;
- Charles William Shetford, 47, was arrested on 24 January.
According to media reports, Breu was charged with second degree murder in the death of Mark Shetford in 2020, but was later acquitted.
