No party has won a majority in Meghalaya, with 31 of the 59 constituencies needed to win. At this stage, the National People’s Party is leading with 26 constituencies.
In the last Assembly elections in Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party won 18 out of 60 seats. Congress won 21 seats. With 31 seats needed for a majority, the National People’s Party formed the government along with the BJP and other parties.
In this case, in the current assembly elections, all parties such as National People’s Party, BJP, Congress and Trinamool contested separately. Out of the 59 constituencies where polling took place, the National People’s Party won 26 seats.

Trinamool Congress has won 6 seats while BJP and Congress have won 4 seats each. Meanwhile, the volunteers gathered in front of National People’s Party leader Conrad Sangma’s house, dancing and celebrating the victory.
