Prayagraj: Magh Mela is going on at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Mouni Amavasya was on Friday. On that occasion, about one and a half crore devotees took a Ganga bath. This was the third festival of Ganga bathing in the Magh Mela.

Hundreds of devotees came to Sangam on the occasion of Magh Mela. He bathed in the Ganges on the occasion of Mouni Amavasya on Friday and Shani Amavasya on Saturday. About one and a half crore devotees bathed in the Ganga from 12 midnight on Friday to 12 noon on Saturday. This information was given by the Divisional Commissioner of Prayagraj, Vijay Vishwas Pant. Around five thousand security guards were deployed to avoid inconvenience to the devotees during the bath. Devotees enjoyed Ganga bath in an atmosphere of utmost peace. An ambulance that could travel through the river and a mobile police station were deployed for the devotees. Also, there were CCTV and drone cameras in the area to keep a close eye on the crowd.

Three more opportunities for Ganga bathing

On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, a group of eminent saints had come to bathe in the Ganges. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also took a dip in the Ganga at the confluence. January 26 is Vasant Panchami and February 5 is Magha Poornima. The Magh Mela will end on February 18 and that day is Maha Vishvaratri and the last Ganga bath is celebrated.
