Gurugram: Ramesh Agarwal, father of Oyo Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal, died after falling from a multi-storey building in Haryana’s Gurugram on Friday afternoon, police said. Ramesh Agarwal died after falling from the 20th floor of DLF’s The Crest Society in Gurugram at around 1 pm, DLF security personnel informed the police.
Ramesh Agarwal was immediately taken to Paras Hospital for treatment. But the doctors declared him dead while being brought to the hospital. Ramesh Agrawal’s dead body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem examination.
He died before being taken to hospital
“The security personnel informed the police that a person had fallen from a high-rise building. The local police station personnel visited the spot and during inspection of the spot, the fallen person was identified as Ramesh Agarwal. He was immediately brought to Paras Hospital,” police said.
Recently, Ramesh’s 29-year-old son Ritesh Agrawal got married to Geetansha Sood. Ramesh participated in the celebration of his son’s wedding. On March 7, the couple hosted a lavish reception at the Taj Palace five-star hotel in Delhi.

He was an inspiration to many like me
Ritesh shared the news about his father’s demise through a tweet, “Sharing with you that my father Ramesh Agarwal, who was my family and my mentor, my strength, passed away on March 10th. Father’s untimely death is a great loss to our family. The compassion and kindness shown by my father even in our toughest times. Kindness has brought me this far. He was an inspiration to me and many of us every day. His words resonate deep in our hearts. We request everyone to respect our privacy in this time of grief,” Ritesh Agarwal tweeted.
Agarwal’s wedding was lavish
On March 7, Ritesh Agarwal’s wedding took place in a grand manner. The wedding was attended by prominent startup founders and investors including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Softbank’s Masayoshi Son. 29-year-old businessman Agarwal fell at the feet of Softbank chief Masoyoshi Sun and received his blessings, which went viral on social media.
Established Oyo Rooms in 2013
Businessman Ritesh Agarwal is one of the young billionaires of the country and founded Oyo in 2013 when he was only 19 years old. Japanese conglomerate SoftBank is the largest investor in Oyo.
Oyo has gained popularity in providing no-frills accommodation, providing accommodation facilities to suit the budget of tourists and providing easy connectivity. It operates in more than 800 cities
