Australia has moved up to 121 points in the men’s ODI team rankings, giving it a lead over Pakistan, which is on 120 points. Both are almost tied at the top and India is behind them with 114 points. Many ODI series are still going on, due to which there may be changes in the ranking.
Pakistan team, which is facing Team India today in Asia Cup, has got a big shock before the match. In fact, by defeating Pakistan, Australia has once again become the number 1 team in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings. Recently, Pakistan overtook Australia and secured the number one position in the men’s ODI team rankings. But by winning the second ODI match of the series against South Africa in Bloemfontein, the Kangaroo team again became number-1.
After a thrilling win in the first match in Bloemfontein, Australia won the second ODI by 123 runs. Australia, who came to bat first, got a fast start from Travis Head and David Warner. Head scored a quickfire half-century, while Warner brought up his 20th ODI century, giving Australia a strong base.
Australia’s hero Marnus Labuschagne continued his brilliant performance with another century in the first ODI win. This helped Australia post a massive score of 392/8 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa got off to a bright start, but despite brilliant innings from Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen, South Africa were all out for 269 runs.
With this win, Australia has reached the top spot in the men’s ODI team ranking points table (121 points). This puts them ahead of Pakistan, who is on (120 points). Both the sides are almost tied at the top with India trailing them with 114 points. Due to many ODI series going on now, there can be many changes in the equation and ranking.
