The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday that the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund is not a public authority as per the Right to Information Act, 2005, but is a public charitable trust.
A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad was considering a petition filed by Samyak Gangwal, seeking to declare the PM Cares Fund as a public authority under the Constitution. The affidavit states that the petition is based on apprehensions and assumptions.
