Porto with ten players crushes Benfica and advances in the Portuguese Cup
Brazilian striker Evanelson scored two goals and was sent off in the first half to lead Porto to a 3-0 victory over Benfica and advance to the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Football Cup on Thursday.
Evanelson opened the scoring in the first minute with a shot from inside the penalty area.
And Vitina strengthened Porto’s lead with a perfect shot after a corner kick, before Evanelson finished the hat-trick from a counter-attack at the half hour of play.
But the 22-year-old was sent off for a second yellow card before the end of the first half.
The hosts held on to maintain their comfortable lead and bid farewell to runners-up Benfica after their defender Nicolas Otamendi was sent off near the end.
