Privatization: After the Red Fort, preparations are being made to hand over 1000 other buildings of the country in private hands. First, there is a plan to hand over 500 ASI buildings to private hands by August 15. If the sources are to be believed, private households will look after the maintenance of these buildings, cleanliness, projection mapping. The households taking up the buildings will make a lump sum investment under their CSR fund.
Red Fort Dalmia Group in hands
A few years ago, the central government had decided to hand over ASI’s legacy to private hands under the Samarak Mitra, whereby Delhi’s Red Fort was handed over to the Dalmia Group. After its better experience, the central government has chosen to hand over 1000 ASI protected buildings in the country into private hands. Till now the responsibility of Monument Mitra was with the Ministry of Tourism, but recently it has been given to the Ministry of Culture.
Purpose of Central Govt
The objective behind the Central Government’s Monument Friend scheme is that ASI. The legacy can be preserved properly. They should be properly branded and provide good facilities to domestic and foreign tourists. Along with this, the Ministry of Culture is also planning to set up museums at the monuments that are in dilapidated condition or have few remains, so that the tourists can get to know the history of those places in a better way.
Not only this, the Ministry of Culture has planned to showcase India’s 5000-year-old culture and heritage to the world under G-20. This is the reason why different G20 events will be held at different heritage sites.
