Chandigarh – Providing canal water to farmers for irrigation is the top priority of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in view of the declining ground water quality. Committed to supply canal water to every farm. This was said by Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Heyer today during the budget session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha in response to the question of legislator Manpreet Singh Ayali.

Meet Hare said that this time in the budget, 2630 crore rupees have been kept for the water resources department for the strengthening and cleaning of canals. Currently, 366 projects worth Rs 870 crore are underway and 7 projects have been sent to the Centre. The department is continuously working under the instructions of the Chief Minister to make canal water available to the farmers.

Giving a written reply to the MLA’s question, Meet Hare said that Kalas Rajbaha, Sarabha Minor, Rattowal Minor, Nurpur Minor, Bassia Sub-Minor, Kanganwal Rajbaha’s Burji 0-15250, Akalgarh Rajbaha and Jassowal Rajbaha under district Ludhiana have been fixed. The work has been started which will be completed by 31st March 2023. Apart from this, the projects of 2-R Rajabaha System, 3-R Rajabaha System and 4-R Rajabaha, Mahuli Minor, Ballowal Minor have been approved by the Punjab Government. It is proposed to start work soon to pave these roads and mines.
