New Delhi: Representing Haryana in the domestic circuit as an all-rounder, Rahul Tewatia grabbed the attention of social media for his fresh new look that gave off a vintage vibe. His clean-shaven look, but with the mustache and wide-brimmed hat usually sported by actors in the 80s, sent social media into a frenzy as users shared their hilarious reactions, with some even making a meme fest.

It was on Sunday during the Elite Group A Ranji Trophy match in Jamshedpur against Jharkhand that Rahul Tewatia took his turn to unveil his new look. He scored his maiden Ranji Century in the match as he smashed 144 batters and later took two more wickets to complete an all-round performance. As if that wasn’t enough to grab all the attention, his new vintage look went viral in no time and fans started drawing comparisons with former players like Javed Miandad and Manoj Prabhakar.

Here’s how social media reacted to Tewati’s new ‘vintage’ look –

How was the match?

It was the Haryana Cricket Association that shared Tewatia’s photo with his batting statistics. His ton played a vital role in the team’s emphatic victory by an innings and 205 runs. The win also helped Haryana move up to the second spot in the Elite Group A points table with 24 points with three wins and two draws from six matches. Vidarbha is on top with 28 points, having won four matches out of six and drawn one.

Haryana had another centurion for them in the innings – Amit Kumar who also helped his side to a total of 509 runs. Jayant Yadav also played and took seven wickets. Jharkhand were bowled out for a paltry 119 and struck again. They managed just 185 runs in their second innings as Haryana secured a deserved win with Jayant claiming another five for.

The Haryana all-rounder must be very confident after smashing a Ranji ton as he heads into the 2024 IPL season where he will represent Gujarat Titans. In the 2023 edition, he scored 87 runs at a strike rate of 152.63, including a useful 15-run spell that helped Gujarat to a 179-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings.
