Swarupa Devi was the daughter of Colonel Manvendra Shah, the former king of Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. She was married to former king of Jhalawar, Inderjit Singh, on 19 April 1968 in Delhi. They have two sons, Chandrajit Singh and Aparajit Singh, and a daughter, Rajeevni.
