Kathmandu / New Delhi: Nepali Congress candidate Ram Chandra Paudel has been elected as the new President of the country. The Nepalese Election Commissioner reported that Congress candidate Paudel got 33,802 electoral votes, while his rival Subhash Chandra Nembwang got 15,518 electoral votes. Ram Chandra Poudel was the candidate supported by the eight-party coalition led by Prime Minister Prachanda, while Nembang was associated with the CPN-UML.
