Nagpur. Two accused were convicted by the Sessions Court in separate cases of rape. One was sentenced to life imprisonment while the other was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. Additional District and Sessions Judge S.S. Nagur convicted the accused in the case registered at Wadi police station. The culprit was called Venkatesh Kalraj Paspaleti (32), a resident of Andhra Pradesh. The acquitted two accused include Ramu Gopal Boi (26) resident of Osmanabad and Kailash Somaiya Shinde (39) resident of Durg.
A case was registered on the complaint of a 45-year-old woman living in Wadi police station area. The woman’s 25-year-old daughter was delirious. According to the prosecution, the accused took advantage of him. Raped her between April 2018 and June 30, 2018. Due to this the victim became pregnant. When his health deteriorated, the mother took him to the hospital and the incident came to know. The police registered a case against the three accused under various sections of rape.
The then assistant inspector Rekha Sankpal investigated the case and filed a charge sheet in the court. Public prosecutor Varsha Saikhedkar succeeded in proving the charges against the accused Venkatesh. The court convicted him and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life, while the other two were acquitted as the charges were not proved. Head constables Amardeep Khandare and Potraje assisted the prosecution as lobbying officers.
Teenager was kidnapped and raped
Additional District and Sessions Judge S.K. R. Trivedi convicted the accused under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and sentenced him to 20 years rigorous imprisonment. On January 30, 2017, the police registered a case against Imtiaz Qayyum Ansari (21), a resident of Ganganagar, on the complaint of the 16-year-old victim’s father.
Imtiaz trapped the girl in his trap. He was coaxed and took him to Ajmer with him. There he raped the girl. Due to the disappearance of the girl, the relatives had complained to the police. After the kidnapping, the police registered a case under various sections including rape and POCSO.
The then sub-inspector Nitin Madankar investigated the case and filed a charge sheet in the court. Public prosecutor Sonali Raut was successful in proving the charges. The court convicted the accused. ASI Manoj Nagrurkar, head constables Awasthi and Nandini Kohle assisted the prosecution as prosecuting officers.
