Kolkata State Minister for Women Welfare and Child Development, Dr. Shashi Panja, in response to the question of opposition MLA Ashok Lahiri in the Assembly on Monday said that his government has no conflict with the Center in this matter. Ashek Lahiri wanted to know why the state government wanted to start all the social projects started by the Centre? Minister Shashi Panja said that the Center has started projects only for people living below the poverty line (BPL), while the Trinamool government in the state has started this project for all classes of people realizing the need. The minister also clarified that there is no dispute between the state government and the Center in this regard. Highlighting the figures in response to the question of different MLAs, the minister said that about 32 lakh people of the state are getting widow allowance and old age allowance. There has been an increase of 20.22 percent in the number of beneficiaries as compared to 2019.
