Russia accuses BBC on PM Modi documentary issue Sangbad Pratidin

News Daily Digital Desk: Russia stood by India with the BBC documentary on Modi. At the same time, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the BBC of engaging in information warfare to serve its own interests. He alleged, “It is trying to create an information war between different forces. This is proof of that.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “The BBC is trying to create an information war between different powers. This (documentary made on Modi) is proof of that. I will try to attract everyone’s attention.” Not only that, the Russian spokesperson also complained, “BBC is doing the same thing against not only Russia, but many powerhouses of the world.” News agency ANI quoted Maria Zakharova as saying, “After several years, it may be seen that the BBC will work for a special organization with special interests within Britain. So steps are taken accordingly from now on.”

Incidentally, opposition to the BBC documentary India: The Modi Question has started within Britain. Allegedly, in both its episodes, multiple facts against the Indian Prime Minister were shown. There have also been demands for an independent investigation against the BBC. The online petition said, “Strongly condemning the BBC. They have failed to maintain neutrality in making the docu-series. Let the BBC board investigate why the BBC did not play its impartial role.” They have also demanded to publish the full report of the investigation.

The central government has banned the showing of BBC documentaries in the country. In this context, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, said that the series was ‘biased’ and showed a lack of objectivity and a colonial mentality. Along with that, he informed that this series will not be shown in India.
