During the campaign against corruption conducted by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau across the state, SHO of Ferozepur Cantonment on Thursday. A case of corruption has been registered against Inspector Naveen Kumar and Punjab Home Guard (PHG) volunteer Jitinder Gill for seeking a bribe of Rs 15,000. In this case SHO Naveen Kumar has been arrested and teams will be formed to arrest the Home Guard volunteer.
Giving information about this arrest, the spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said that this inspector has been arrested on the complaint of Lalit Kumar Pasi, a resident of Ferozepur cantonment.
Giving more information, he said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that this SHO. has demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe in return for helping him in a police case registered against the other party. The complainant recorded the conversation while demanding the bribe and produced it as evidence before the Vigilance Bureau to file a case against the accused.
The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the team of the Vigilance Bureau of Ferozepur unit laid a trap and arrested the accused SHO. was arrested in the presence of two government witnesses on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 through his gunman. This Home Guard volunteer SHO. received bribe money on behalf of and escaped from arrest himself. He said that the Vigilance Bureau team is looking for him for arrest in this case.
In this regard, a case has been registered against these two accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Ferozepur police station of Vigilance Bureau and further investigation of this matter is going on.
