Birmingham, August 4 (Punjab Mail) – Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu entered the Commonwealth Games women’s singles pre-quarterfinals with an easy win here today. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu defeated Maldives’ Fatima Nabaha Abdul Razak 21-4, 21-11 in just 21 minutes.

India’s star sprinter Hima Das qualified for the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games 200m by clocking 23.42 seconds in her heat.

India’s Manju Bala reached the final in the women’s hammer throw competition, while compatriot Sarita Singh failed to do so. Manju Bala finished 11th in the qualification round with a best throw of 59.68m in her first attempt. In the same event, Sarita finished 13th with her best throw of 57.48 meters, due to which she did not qualify for the finals.
