Nagpur. Smart cards are required for senior citizens above 75 years of age, beneficiaries of various schemes and patients including citizens above 60 years of age to get concession in bus fare. Due to technical difficulties in getting the card, the government has given a plan till March 31 to get the smart card made, due to which it has come to the fore that people who are allowed to travel in the free and concessional buses of the Corporation ST. They have a term of two months.
Maharashtra State Transport Corporation has implemented a smart card scheme with effect from June 1, 2019, to provide concession in travel fares to senior citizens and various social groups. Smart cards are being issued to senior citizens, recipients of various social awards, students and patients through the scheme. Registration is already being done.
29 types of community groups are given concessions of 100 per cent and 25, 50 and 75 per cent in corporation buses. There is free travel facility for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Anna Sathe, Sant Gadgebaba de-addiction award winners and other award winners, Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha representatives.
