For the second time this week, southern Quebec is bracing for another snowstorm that is causing headaches for cleanup efforts in Montreal.
The city will suspend the snow removal operation that began on Wednesday. Forecasts call for up to 20 inches on Saturday, so the city is changing its plans.
Snow removal will continue until Friday night, with only about 50 percent of the city’s streets cleared, before halting all operations.
“We all have to be very careful in the coming hours. We’re expecting the same precipitation we had earlier this week, so it’s a cocktail of snow followed by freezing rain, rain tomorrow. So it’s going to be a big challenge for our work crew,” he said. city spokesman Philippe Sabourin.
When it starts to snow, the teams will be back on the roads.
Depending on the debris on the streets, city crews will then continue to clear snow on city streets.
