New Delhi: A man from Gujarat’s Mahisagar district has been detained for allegedly casting fake votes. After he went live on Instagram from inside a polling booth in Dahod Lok Sabha constituency during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 7.

The Congress party said the man, Vijay Bhabore, was the son of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and broadcast live on Instagram from a booth, news agency PTI reported. The Congress said it was ‘Insulting democracy’

This was after the Congress party filed a complaint with the Election Commission along with a copy of the video. Mahisakhon district police arrested Bhabhoor and his accomplice. Bhabhoor removed the video after criticism. But when that time comes The clip has since gone viral on social media.

Mahisagar Superintendent of Police Jaideep Singh Jeja said the incident took place at a polling booth in Prathampur town of Mahisagar district under Dahod parliamentary constituency. “We have arrested two people and are acting on the FIR filed by the presiding officer under the Representation of the People Act for fake voting,” Jadeja said.

According to officials, Bhabhoor went to the polling booth to cast his vote at 5:49 p.m. and left at 5:54 p.m. During those five minutes, he went live on Instagram. and was accused of voting on behalf of two other voters using a mock voting method. The official said

In the viral video, Bhabhoor is seen focusing the camera on EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines and after asking him to leave. and demands from election officials for five to ten minutes. Bhubaneswar also said that ‘only the BJP is working here’.

His friends are also seen in the video.

In the video, Mr. Bhabhoor says ‘This machine belongs to my father’ before pressing the button in the EVM. Only one thing works – that is the BJP; ‘Only Vijayabur works here,’ he is reported to have said.
