PanajiA court in Goa on Friday extended by 14 days the judicial custody of two accused arrested in the case related to the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat. Phogat was taken dead to a hospital in Anjuna on August 23.

Police claimed that they were given some “objectionable substance” mixed with water to drink. The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate-First Class extended the judicial custody of accused Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh by 14 days, a police official said. Both the accused in Sonali’s murder have been lodged in the Central Jail at Kolwale.

The court has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) plea to interrogate Sangwan and Singh in jail, officials said. A team of CBI is present in Goa to investigate this matter. (agency)
