Johannesburg: Pretoria Capitals became the first team to advance to the finals of the South African T-20 League after defeating Pearl Royals in the semi-finals.
South Africa hosts the IPL-style SA ‘T20’ series. Six teams including Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals are participating. In the first semi-final match, Pretoria Capitals – Pearl Royals clashed yesterday.
Pearl Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Salt (22) made a modest start for the Pretoria Capitals. Gusal Mendis (7) and Denis De Bruyne (9) cheated. Rousseau, who played tremendously, scored 56 runs in 41 balls (3 sixes, 5 fours). Ingram(10), Neesham(4) and others cheated. Pretoria Capitals scored 153 for 8 in 20 overs. Bulukwayo took 3 wickets and Shamsi took 2 wickets for Pearl Royals.

Captain Miller (31) and Stirling (21) gave hope to the Pearl Royals team who chased down a tough target. Other players cheated, lost all wickets in 19 overs and lost by taking only 124 runs. For Pretoria Capitals, Adil Rashid, Neesham, Narje and Bosk took 2 wickets each. Rousseau was adjudged man of the match. The win made Pretoria Capitals the first team to advance to the finals.
In the other semi-final today (Feb. 9), Du Plessi’s Joburg Super Kings (Johannesburg) will take on Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
