Sustainability AI and Midjourney—two of the biggest names in the exploding field of AI-generated imagery—and portfolio site DeviantArt have become the targets of a class action lawsuit filed in California on behalf of the artists.

The suit is brought forward by three plaintiffs, all actors: Sarah Anderson (of Sarah’s Scripts), Kelly McKernan and Carla Ortiz, who are seeking “compensation for damages caused by Sustainability AI, DeviantArt, and Midjourney, and an injunction to prevent future damages” on behalf of all of the artists affected.
