Biplabchandra Dutta, Krishnanagar: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari gave a strong reaction to the incident of slapping a young man on the cheek in front of the minister. He had a public meeting at Nimatla in Haringhata, Nadia on Saturday. From there, Shuvendur warned, “Listen, the hand that slapped the protesting young man’s cheek today, BJP will be the government and this video will not be lost. You shall wash that boy’s feet with those two hands and give him water.”
The incident started this morning. Trinamool (TMC) was running ‘Didi’s Suraksha Kabach’ program in Nilganj, Ichapur, North 24 Parganas. There was an allegation against the local BJP mandal president for obstructing the programme. Palta Padma Shibir alleged that a Trinamool worker from the camp slapped him. State Food Minister and local MLA Rathin Ghosh was in the program. He claimed that the one who slapped him was not a grassroots worker. Despite this, Minister Rathin Ghosh apologized to the BJP leader by showing courtesy. But the one who was slapped later claimed to be the mandal president of BJP. As a result, Gerua Shibir also got a new tool. The mercury of politics is rising.

Subhendu Adhikari protested this in the afternoon at Haringhata meeting. “We will take account,” he warned. We will take everything into account. The hand that slapped the protesting young man’s cheek today, BJP will be in government and this video will not be lost. You shall wash that boy’s feet with those two hands and give him water.” On this day, the opposition party leader attacked the state government on various other issues. Mentioning the names of Zakir Hossain, Amiruddin Bobby, Arpita Mukhopadhyay, he said, “They have put in goods like these. I will take out all the goods.”

According to him about the Panchayat elections (WB Panchayet), “Till 2013 there was voting in Panchayats. Trinamool tried to steal some votes that year. But could not loot. There is only one reason, for the then Election Commissioner Meera Panda. He went to the Supreme Court and brought 400 companies of para-militaries to help hold fair elections. I have demanded transparency in the work of 100 days. In 2018 panchayat polls, voting was done under the influence of bike army and police. Our workers were killed and chased away from the counting center. This is how the panchayat voted in 2018.”
