Chandigarh- Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presented the budget for the year 2023-24. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema told in the Vidhan Sabha that Punjab’s budget for the financial year 2023-24 is Rs 1,96,462 crore, which is 26 percent more than the previous year. He said that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Punjab is estimated to be Rs 6,98,635 crore. Cheema said that I had promised to increase resources in my previous budget. No new tax has been introduced in the budget. Apart from this, the promise of giving 1000 rupees per month to women was also not fulfilled this time. On the other hand, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that his government will fulfill all the guarantees.
Former finance minister and BJP leader Manpreet Singh Badal, talking about the budget, said that the budget of the ‘AAP’ government is hopeless. It has more talk and less work. Talking about the budget, the Leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the water level in Punjab is continuously falling. No one was worried about this. He said that the persons involved in the liquor excise scam should be arrested.
Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma took a dig at the budget and said that the state of the government is that it is doing a fair and a fair. He said that how the Punjab government, which gave MSP in a pinch, forgot the farmer today. He said that the 1000 rupees given to women by the Punjab government has only been left in the air. There was already no hope from this budget. This budget was a total disappointment.
Talking about the budget, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said that the promises made to the people in the second budget of the Hon’ble government are also missing. He said that the foundation stone of a medical college has not been laid yet and the state government is talking about opening four more new medical colleges. Raja Waring said that the hollow budget was presented only to waste people’s time.
Talking about the budget, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that this budget is the smallest budget in the history of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The Speaker’s behavior in the Legislative Assembly has been third-rate. He lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party and said that those who said that we will remove the debt from the head of Punjab, they are paying the highest debt.
