Amritsar, August 5 (Jagdeep Singh Sagu) – Important pages of Sikh history to be celebrated on the 100th centenary of Morcha Guru Ka Bagh. The preparations for the events have been completed by the Shiromani Committee. The arrangements for the events related to the centenary were made today by Shiromani Committee’s Deputy Secretary Media Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Dharma Prachar Committee Deputy Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Gurmeet Singh Buttar, Kuldeep Singh Rode. Paramjit Singh Dunya Mazra and other officials took the survey.
Kulwinder Singh Ramdas said that the preparations for the centenary celebrations are complete and on the first day of the three-day celebrations starting tomorrow, August 6, after the commencement of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, 100 students of Sikh Missionary Colleges will perform kirtan simultaneously with ancient stringed instruments in the main pandal. At the beginning of the events, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and Shiromani Committee members will arrive specially. During these 3-day events held by the Shiromani Committee, there will be Vishal Amrit Sanchar on August 7 and Kirtan Darbar on the same day in the evening. On August 8 During the main centenary event, Singh Sahibs, cult personalities and storytellers of the Sikh community, ragi, dhadi and kwishar groups will be present. A special picture exhibition depicting historical events related to Morcha Guru Ka Bagh will also be organized by the Shromani Committee during the centenary events.
It is to be noted that the Morcha Guru Ka Bagh started on August 8, 1922 with the arrest of Sikhs who were cutting wood for langar, which continued till November 17, 1922. This Morcha was an important part of the Gurdwara reform movement, which brought sectarian power to power. organized more and it also became the foundation of the country’s independence. More than 5600 Sikhs were arrested and more than 1500 were injured and many Sikhs were martyred during this front which lasted for more than three months.
