New Delhi- The Supreme Court is ready to hear the petition related to the scientific survey of the alleged Shivling found in Varanasi’s Gyanvapi campus. Challenging the decision of the Allahabad High Court, the Mosque Management Committee approached the Supreme Court. Accepting the petition on Thursday, the Supreme Court said it will hear the matter on May 19.
It may be mentioned that the Allahabad High Court has ordered the carbon dating of Shivling. Actually, the court has given this order on the report submitted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the court. The court had ordered the district judge of Varanasi to hear the case on May 22. However, it is left to the District Judge to decide when and how the scientific survey will be conducted.
A survey can be done. Through this survey, an attempt will be made to find out whether the shape of the Shivling found in the mosque complex was before the construction of the mosque or was made during the construction itself.
On the other hand, Vishnu Shankar Jain, the lawyer for the Hindu side in the Gyanavapi case, said that in the District Court Varanasi, we had demanded that the entire complex be investigated by ASI. We have demanded that the western wall of the so-called mosque should also be investigated. The top of the Hindu temple under the dome of the so-called mosque should also be investigated. After hearing the petition, the district court has given them (the Muslim side) time till May 19 to file their objections. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on May 22.
