Late former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, late former Prime Minister PV Narasimhrao and agronomist Dr. MS Swaminathan three dignitaries will receive India’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’. All three of them will receive this award posthumously. The central government announced this on Friday. A few days ago, late former Bihar Chief Minister Karpuri Thakur and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Prime Minister of India LK Advani also received this award.

All the three eminent personalities who were recently conferred with Bharat Ratna have achieved outstanding achievements in their respective fields. These three leaders have made enormous contributions in the fields of agriculture, farmers’ welfare, nation building and economic reforms. The central government said in a special statement on Friday that he is being conferred this highest civilian award in honor of his unprecedented achievements.

Chaudhary Charan Singh: Benefactor of farmers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh worked for the welfare of farmers all his life. He often campaigned on issues of agricultural reform and farmers’ rights. He was also the Prime Minister of India for some time. He was also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh twice. Their contribution to nation building is valuable. In 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi violated the constitutional rights of the people by declaring a state of emergency. At that time, Charan Singh was involved in the anti-emergency agitation. He also had to serve 19 months in prison. He is considered one of the greatest leaders of Uttar Pradesh and India. So they were chosen.
