It has been seen that in a school in 24 Parganas, seven people are sharing the salary of five people who are in charge of serving mid-day meal. This has been going on for the last ten-twelve years. When asked about it, Madan said, ‘Kunti said, divide what you have brought between 5 brothers and eat. The culture of West Bengal-India is that a wife can be shared by five husbands.” However, Madanbabu did not clarify whether he supports seven people taking the salary of these five people.

As soon as Madan’s statement came out, the controversy started. Madan was strongly attacked by the BJP. Asansol South BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said, ‘Insulting women, making ugly comments, commenting on the appearance of Hon’ble President Draupadi Murmu, those are nothing new.’ Agnimitra alleges that the Trinamool does not respect women, which is evident from the list of Trinamool leaders involved in rape and molestation.
