Peg: Appealing to tribal women to come forward and take advantage of government schemes, President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday said that there is a need to preserve the cultural identity of Scheduled Tribe communities. He said in a program in Khunti that take advantage of those government schemes which have been started only for your welfare. When it comes to women empowerment, the tribal women of Jharkhand are ahead of the women of other states. Tribal women of Jharkhand have excelled in sports. The women of the state are also contributing in the economic development of the country. The President also interacted with women members of self-help groups in Khunti, the birthplace of eminent tribal personality Birsa Munda. The program ‘Women SHG Sammelan’ was organized by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation and the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India. At least 25,000 tribal women took part in it at the stadium of Birsa Munda College. After this, the President will also attend the second convocation of the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Ranchi. He also inaugurated the new building of Jharkhand High Court at Ranchi constructed at a cost of about Rs 550 crore.
