The party leadership has denied the allegation of sectarian conflict in this incident. This has started a political battle.
According to local sources, the Anganwadi center was attacked in the dark of night. The ICDS center was vandalized. The tubewell was broken and taken away. Tension has spread over the incident in Bhanankhali village north of Basanti police station in South 24 Parganas. It is alleged that the ICDS center was vandalized due to the construction of the Yuva Trinamool activist Mokles Mollah in the area. Also, the houses of several youth grassroots workers in the area were vandalized. Allegedly, the attack was carried out under the leadership of Mozambel Sardar, the Trinamool leader of the area and Kathalberia region president. However, Mozambique denied the allegations. He said water is taken from tubewells of government ICDS centers for cultivation of land and poultry farms. The local residents protested against the incident and vandalized the ICDS center themselves. They are alleging attacks against grass roots workers. The police have started investigating the whole incident.
According to local residents, 40 to 50 youth armed with bamboo, sticks and sharp weapons came to the ICDS center last night and attacked. A local youth said that miscreants have looted food from the ICDS center. Those who carried out this attack are RSS by night and Trinamool by day. Tubewells are also broken.
