Two women killed, five seriously injured as LPG cylinder explodes in Vadodara IG News

Two women were killed and five others were seriously injured in an explosion caused by a gas leak from a LPG cylinder at a house in Dev Nagar Society of Diwalipura area of ​​Vadodara on Friday.

Fire officials said 12 nearby houses were also damaged due to the intensity of the blast.

According to Vadodara Fire and Emergency Services (VFES) officials, the explosion took place due to a leak of an LPG cylinder in residential colony’s house number 106 on Friday morning.

Three members of the family where the blast took place – Jayesh Jain, his mother Shakuntala and son Dhruvesh – suffered severe burns, their neighbours, Ambalal Chauhan and his wife Leela, Deepak Chauhan and Bhavna Gohil were also burnt from neighboring houses.

All the injured were taken to SSG Hospital, where Shakuntala and Leela succumbed to their injuries.

VMC’s chief fire officer Partha Brahmbhatt told The Indian Express, “Such an explosion is called a ‘suspected explosion’ and it occurs when there is a leak in the LPG cylinder and the gas is leaking continuously, causing space to leak. A balloon has formed in the If there is any smell of gas leak in the house, there should be no ignition, and even the start of a fire. The switch could be a trigger.”

Several houses in the colony have been damaged due to the blast in Dev Nagar and some parts of the walls of 11 houses have been seen cracking or collapsing. Glasses of most of the 11 nearby houses were also shattered by the impact of the blast.

Officials said three others were seriously injured and the death toll was likely to rise.
